The Romance of Henry Tudor and Elizabeth of York

I am honored to be a guest blogger for the Henry Tudor Society today. Please read my article exploring the idea that Henry Tudor was more than a penny-pincher, but made a little bit of romance with his lovely Plantagenet bride.

Plantagenet Princess, Tudor Queen hits shelves tomorrow! Are you as excited as I am? Thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered on Kindle. Those who have been waiting for paperback to arrive, your wait is almost over. If you are interested in purchasing a signed copy directly from me, please send me a message. I have a few signed copies available.

If you haven't already seen the book trailer, you can view it here.

Thanks, again, for all of your support and the conversation that we have here on my blog.

  1. Lovely article! I do find Henry and Elizabeth's love story quite beautiful, def one of the softer sides of Henry! That is actually one of the reasons I have never been satisfied with the few fictions that exist about Elizabeth-they do not explore this aspect of the marriage and portray Henry as cold and withdrawn, when actually, his wife seems to be one of few people he could open up to. So it would have been nice to see this side of Henry. It is lovely as well that it was an arranged marriage but that he was still apparently faithful to her throughout the marriage. A popular recent book took what seems to have been a chivalric appreciation of a pretty "damsel in distress" (Catherine Gordon) and turned it into a full blown obsession/affair, when I'm certain that if it went that far, it would have caused quite a stir at court (being so OOC for Henry and all).
Have you seen "Shadow of the Tower"? It is old but really good. Henry seems quite true to the historic one. Contradictory-he can be kind and funny and has a soft soft for his wife and children but he is also quite ruthless. And the scenes with Elizabeth are really sweet.
Excited about getting your book tomorrow!

  2. I'm glad that you enjoyed the article. I hope that people will be able to see a little bit softer side to Henry after reading my book. 'Shadow of the Tower' has been recommended to me many times. I'm not much of a TV person, but I have caught a few episodes and need to continue with the series. What I have seen does seem to be a good portrayal. Thanks!

  3. This is the real love story of the Tudors. Not Henry VIII and his six wives or Elizabeth I's affairs.
